Privacy Policy
Lyrabar is built to be private by design. It runs entirely on your Mac, reads what's playing locally, and does not require an account. This policy explains exactly what data is involved and where it goes.
Who we are
Lyrabar is a macOS application published by WinspireTech LLC ("we", "us"). If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at contact@winspiretechllc.com.
What the app does on your Mac
Lyrabar reads the currently playing track (title, artist, album, playback position) directly from the Spotify or Apple Music app already installed on your Mac, using macOS automation. This information stays on your device and is used only to display synced lyrics. We do not record, store, or transmit your listening history.
What leaves your Mac
- Lyric lookups. To find the words for a song, Lyrabar sends only the song title, artist, and track length to public community lyric databases (lrclib.net, with NetEase as a fallback). No personal identifier is attached to these requests.
- Software updates. Lyrabar periodically checks lyrabar.com for a new version. As with any web request, our server may log standard technical data such as your IP address and app version. This is used only to deliver updates and for basic security.
Purchases and licensing
Payments are processed by our reseller and merchant of record, Lemon Squeezy. When you buy Lyrabar, Lemon Squeezy collects the information needed to complete the purchase (such as your email and billing details) under their own privacy policy — we never see or store your full payment details. Your license key, trial start date, and activation identifier are stored locally in your Mac's Keychain, and are only sent to Lemon Squeezy's license servers to activate or verify your license.
This website
Our website uses Vercel Web Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics tool that measures aggregate page views and button clicks. It does not use cookies and does not track you across other sites or build a personal profile.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or share your personal data.
- We do not show ads or embed third-party advertising trackers in the app.
- We do not require you to create an account.
Data retention
Because the app stores its data locally on your Mac, you can remove everything at any time by uninstalling Lyrabar and deleting its Keychain entries. License records held by Lemon Squeezy are retained according to their policies and applicable law.
Children
Lyrabar is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
